Dental implants are titanium screws which are fixed in the jaw bone and it is allowed to heal for a period of 4-6 months. During this period the implant gets integrated with the jaw bone. After the implant gets adhered to the jaw bone it is connected with the actual tooth structure called crown.
So the question remains how do we go about the treatment. Initially the case selection is done by considering various factors. Medical history is of utmost importance. Then we take a 3D CBCT scan of the jaws to determine the quality of the bone. CT scan also gives various information like bone density , bone height , proximity to important anatomical structures. Once the planning is completed then the implants are placed at particular sites where it is planned. Then the area is left to heal for few months. After few months when the site has healed completely the process for placing the crowns commences.
