Patients with significant bone loss in the upper jaw, particularly in the posterior maxilla, who require dental implants but lack sufficient bone height, are ideal candidates. A thorough evaluation, including imaging studies, is necessary to determine suitability.
The initial healing period typically lasts 7 to 10 days, during which patients may experience minor swelling and discomfort. However, complete healing and integration of the bone graft can take between 4 to 9 months before dental implants can be placed.
In some cases, if sufficient primary stability is achieved, implants can be placed simultaneously with the sinus lift. However, this decision depends on individual factors such as bone quality and volume.'
Various bone graft materials can be utilized, including autografts (patient's own bone), allografts (donor bone), xenografts (animal-derived bone), or synthetic substitutes. The choice depends on individual patient needs and the dentist's recommendation
